- The Faith Forum and its Committee appoint a
representative to the Reading Local Strategic Partnership (LSP), also know as “Reading
2020 Partnership”. This is a partnership between all the major players in Reading,
especially those delivering services. In includes: the chamber of commerce,
health authority, emergency services, the voluntary sector and the Faith
Communities. It discusses overall strategy and how to cooperate. (www.reading2020.org.uk/)
- The Faith Committee participated in the Reading
Council for Racial Equality’s campaign to get people to vote in the European
election in order that extremist parties should not win a propaganda victory.
The press conference was on TV.
- Similarly we took part in a press conference on
the Danish Cartoons.
- We are making representation to the Council and
others about the need to consult with Faith Communities before changing parking
restrictions, closing roads and organising the half marathon on major feasts
like Palm Sunday.
